BestPractices Steam Plant Tour, May 2002

This slide show reviews an industrial steam plant, an energy audit performed on that plant in May 2002, and general observations and “lessons learned” with respect to steam efficiency. While the subject steam plant supports a paper mill (identity withheld upon plant manager’s request), the emphasis here is on steam operations. The tour was made possible through the cooperation of Enbridge Consumers Gas.

BestPractices Steam is a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Its purpose is to promote awareness of the technical, behavioral, and financial benefits of industrial steam system optimization. The program develops a variety of reference materials, diagnostic software, and industry events for this purpose.

The Alliance to Save Energy developed this slide presentation to support the BestPractices Steam effort. The intent is to raise awareness of steam plant improvement opportunities through practical demonstration.
